San Jose Earthquakes U16 Academy team advances to USSDA Final 8

The San Jose Earthquakes U16 Academy team won their group in the USSDA playoffs at the Grand Park Sports complex in Westfield Indiana.  The Quakes were in a group with Orlando City, FC Dallas and Shattuck-St Marys. The team opened play with a 3-1 win against Orlando City.  Uriel Cordoba opened scoring on an assist from Michael Anderson. The second goal came from Cordoba as well on an assist from Ivan Valnecia. Ivan Valencia capped the scoring with a goal on an assist from Uriel Cordoba. Against FC Dallas, the Quakes found themselves down 1-0 in the first minute of the game. The Quakes answered back with a goal from Amir Bashti and a goal from Rory Birse to end the first half up 2-1. FC Dallas equalized on a corner kick in the 80th minute for a 2-2 tie. The final game against Shattuck-St Marys was a must win for the boys. Ivan Valencia opened scoing in the 38th minute on a throw in from Alex Fluitt flicked on by Rory Birse to Ivan waiting at the far post. Valencia capped scoring in the 80th minute to finish the game at 2-0 in favor of the Quakes. 

Next up, the Quakes face Real Salt Lake in Arizona on July 8th. The winner of that game advances to the USSDA finals July 17th at Stub Hub Center in Los Angeles.
